Client

Tamworth Borough Council: along with providing a wide range of services for residents, many businesses based in Tamworth and the people who visit the borough, the Council is working to realise a vision called ‘Tamworth – celebrating our heritage, creating a better future’.

Approach

Node have been commissioned by Tamworth Borough Council to prepare landscape design concepts for three individual projects within a wider key area of town centre public realm between St Editha’s Church and Tamworth Castle.
These projects form a key part of wider interventions identified within Tamworth’s successful funding bid to the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government (MHCLG) as part of the Future High Streets Fund (FHSF).
The programme is a critical project in the delivery of the Council’s long term, aspirational vision for the town and is intended to kick start economic growth in Tamworth town centre. Projects will be connected using unifying hard landscape materials, new trees, rain gardens planting and lighting strategy.

Impact

Each project has been given planning consent, and the main contractor Speller Metcalfe has been appointed, with the first project planned to commence on site in 2024. Following Node’s novation, the supported coordination will be provided up until the projects handover.
