Client

Buckminster Estates: a forward-thinking organisation responsible for the stewardship of land and buildings in and around the villages of Buckminster and the town of Grantham

Approach

Node were appointed for the design of landscape and external works for a proposed designer outlet village in Grantham on behalf of Buckminster Estates. Our role included reviewing planning and Section 106 Conditions, through RIBA Stages 3 to 6 developed design, technical design, construction and handover. Our approach was centred on providing a landscape design to stimulate and enthuse visitors to the outlet, whilst also maintaining efficient use of resources for the client.

At Node, we believe that good place-making, landscapes and environments are as much about innovative and considered design as they are about financial resources and are always looking for ways to create great places without the need for high landscape budgets.

Impact

The design includes water features, green walls and children’s play within a high quality overall environment. Our team reviewed the functions of the landscape and sought to maximise the benefits to users of the outlet village, both internally and externally.

At the end of the developed design stage, the drawings and documents produced will be prepared to issue as tender documents. From RIBA Stage 4 technical design, we will be inovated to work within a contractor’s design team.
