Godwin Developments: delivering high quality residential and commercial schemes in partnership with both the public and private sector.

Approach

As a team of landscape architects, urban designers and heritage consultants, we worked closely with the appointed consultant team on Lowesmoor Basin, Worcester to create a high-quality landscape design solution for the public realm that uplifts the spirit and delivers a true sense of place.

The design appeals to all the senses, responds sensitively to its historic context and is interwoven with the architectural proposals. A key facet to the design is the reinstatement of historic canal arms, which is not seen simply as a heritage benefit, but rather reinterpreted in a contemporary way with placemaking at its heart.

Impact

The design creates a series of spaces that entice you through to the destination space at the head of the basin. It has considered sustainable urban drainage with the integration of rain gardens and fosters ecological benefits through the introduction of additional planting, which will encourage birds and insects. It has considered lighting and the importance of play, health and well-being through the introduction of integrated play and fitness features.

The proposals are currently awaiting planning approval.
